Emergencies

Student Health Services responds to emergencies during regular business hours.

For severe or potentially life-threatening emergencies when Student Health Services is closed, call 911 or go to a local emergency room. For assistance call campus police at 956.326.2100.

WHAT TO DO UNTIL HELP ARRIVES :

1) Assist in maintaining a calm environment.

2) Keep area free of spectators.

3) Reassure and stay with the victim.

WHAT TO DO FOR NON EMERGENCIES WHEN STUDENT HEALTH IS CLOSED:

If you are ill or injured, seek care at a local urgent care facility.

If your symptoms are not significant enough to interfere with your daily activities and you feel you can wait to be evaluated, call Student Health Services to schedule an appointment during normal business hours.

MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS:

If you are on campus and need assistance, call 2911. Dispatchers on campus will contact the Counselor on-call (after hours) who will in-turn attempt to make contact with the individual in crisis.

If you are not on campus and need assistance for an emergency including someone who is seriously considering suicide, call 911. You may also contact our local mental health authority listed below:
