Intramural FAQ

How do I get on a team or sign up for an event?
To enter a team, just get a group of friends, dorm mates or club members that are currently enrolled at TAMIU and complete the roster form for any team sport (basketball, flag football, soccer, etc.). You can also sign up as a "Free Agent" and be placed on a team for team sports. For individual events (table tennis, chess, horseshoes, etc.) sign up yourself and/or your partner before entries for that event close. All sign ups are taken at KWRC 208 during normal business hours (8am-5pm).  People not currently enrolled or employed by TAMIU are not eligible to participate in any Rec. Sports program.

When and where do we play?
Leagues and tournaments are usually played at a time that is convenient for the participants of that event. Weekday evenings and weekends are used for all intramural contests. All intramural events take place either in the KWRC or on the Intramural Fields located southwest of the TAMIU campus.

How much does it cost?
All intramural leagues, tournaments and events are FREE to all current, registered students, paid Faculty/Staff and University Affiliate memberships only. Alumni and General Community memberships cannot participate in Intramurals.

When do we practice?
Since intramurals are non-varsity, practices by teams are up to the teams themselves and totally voluntary.

What do the winners get?
All team and individual event winners receive Intramural Champion T-shirts. All winners will also have their pictures taken for the Hall of Champions section of the Rec.Sports web page.

Can I play on more than one team?
Participants are allowed to represent one men´s or women´s team and one co-ed team in any particular sport at any one time. Example: A man can play for one men´s softball team and one co-ed softball team.

How do I become an intramural official?
Officials are needed for all team sports, such as: soccer, flag football, basketball, softball, and volleyball. Officials start at $7.50 per game. Those interested should come by KWRC 208 to apply or plan to attend an officials meeting of the sport of your choice. Call (956) 326-2289 for more information.
