UNIVERSITY OUTREACH ‘DISCOVER TAMIU’ CELEBRATES CAMPUS LIFE, OFFERS FUN ACTIVITIES Last April, “Discover TAMIU” celebrated its 10-year anniversary with free and fun activities for the entire family. The event was sponsored by PNC Bank. TAMIU set up a dedicated website sharing the extensive inventory of events to explore. Some 170 activities were presented throughout the 300-acre campus, including face-painting, slime activities, D.I.Y. bracelets, a fish tank tour, make-your-own piggy banks, create-your-own lava lamps, a DustyTRON robotics demonstration, Lotería and more. A live silkscreen printing activity also promoted the sustainability mission of the University’s Rhizome Project. Attendees enjoyed free showings at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium and the University’s Mariachi Internacional, TAMIU Cheer & Dance group, student choreographers, and community groups performed. Discover TAMIU followed five distinct ‘Pathways’ that attendees explored, including dedicated activities such as Artistic Avenue, Business Boulevard, the International U, Scientific Journey, and Spirited Speedway. “Discover TAMIU” returns Saturday, March 29, 2025.
