COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (COBA) |
|
Consistent with the mission of the University, the College
of Business Administration has as its mission the creation of a learning
experience that increases the knowledge, skills, and professional ethics
of a new generation of future business leaders who will function in a
diverse, globally-competitive environment. The foundation of the College
is a single, enthusiastic, student-oriented faculty whose members are
trained and knowledgeable in particular disciplines. Faculty operate in
an environment in which there is an expectation of continuous service,
faculty research, publication, and professional development. |
|
The College strives to provide the historically under-served
border region of South Texas with a high-quality education in the traditional
areas of undergraduate business administration. The College serves a relative
homogeneous undergraduate student population that is drawn primarily from
the border region of South Texas and Mexico. The faculty that serves these
students is committed to the delivery of both high-quality instruction
and supportive student-development services. The quality of the instruction
and services provided to our students is enhanced by the faculty's participation
in current and relevant scholarly activities. |
|
The College of Business Administration is dedicated to the
delivery of a high-quality professional and internationalized education
to a graduate student population that is drawn from a wide variety of
countries and cultures. It is intended that these programs will contribute
to the students' success in leadership positions in both domestic and
international settings. The quality of these programs results from the
College's increased expectations for faculty regarding teaching, scholarly
activities (including research), and service to students, organizations,
and community. |
|
OBJECTIVES |
|
The primary objectives of the College of Business Administration
are directed toward the parameters of education for the administration
of business organizations. To this end, curriculum development is a continuous
activity in response to social, economic and technological development
reflected in the evolving knowledge in the behavioral and quantitive sciences. |
|
The purpose of the curriculum is to provide a broad education
that will prepare the student for creative and responsible leadership
in business and society as a whole. The College of Business Administration
received a Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter in 2002. The purpose of Beta Gamma
Sigma is to encourage and recognize scholarship and achievement among
students of business, management and administration, and to encourage
and promote personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished
by honorable service to humankind. |
