ENGL 5301
Teaching Rhetoric and Composition.
Three semester hours.
An intensive review and evaluation of traditional, modern, and innovative theories of rhetoric and the teaching of composition. Participants will explore and apply methods for teaching composition that will prepare them to teach in higher education settings. Topics include composition pedagogy, rhetorical strategies, curriculum design, grammar instruction, and assessment practices for freshman composition courses. All Master of Arts candidates who will be teaching freshman composition must register for this course prior to taking a teaching assignment. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.
