Multi Disciplinary Program, TaiwanProgram Dates June 1 – June 30, 2009.
Program In collaboration with Aletheia University, TAMIU’s College of Arts and Sciences will offer a four-week summer study abroad program in Taipei, Taiwan. This program consists of a selection of four different courses in Anthropology, Education, Music, and Sociology, combined with field trips and cultural visits. All travel and housing costs during the excursions are included in the program fees. This six credit program is directed by Dr. Yu-Mei Huang, a native of Taiwan and Assistant Professor at the College of Arts and Sciences (Fine and Performing Arts Department).
Itinerary*
Accommodation Students will reside in twin-room accommodation with unlimited internet access. Several meals are included in the program.
Program Cost The program cost is $ 1,730. This excludes TAMIU tuition/fees and round trip airfare from Laredo to Taipei. Students are responsible for their own meals not covered as part of the program.

Study Abroad Scholarships TAMIU/OIE offers two scholarships for study abroad. Qualified students may complete their application and supporting documents and submit them to OIE together with their study abroad application. Scholarship funds will be disbursed according to the financial aid office disbursement cycle, which is no earlier than end of May 2009 for this program. Course Information All students are required to select two courses from: MUSI 1306: Music Appreciation EDFS 2316: Health and Movement ANTH 4301: Introduction to Chinese Culture SOCI 4375: Sociology in Taiwanese Context Upon successful completion of this program, student will receive six TAMIU credits.
Program Requirements Open to all students with 2.0 GPA or higher. Freshmen or concurrently enrolled high school students are eligible to apply.
Refunds** Withdrawal from a study abroad program must be made in writing to OIE. The application fee of $200 is non-refundable, and will be applied towards your program cost. No refunds are made after 1 May 2009 of program fee deposits. Refunds will be calculated from the date OIE is notified in writing of your intent to withdraw. TAMIU is not responsible for indirect costs paid directly by students, including but not limited to passport fees, vaccinations, and transportation costs.
