A new website for members of the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) community and the Laredo community at large is dedicated to providing resources to build resilience and recovery.

The site, https://www.tamiu.edu/tamiutogether, launched last week and helps affirm the binding spirit of the broad Dustdevil community as it navigates the COVID-19 pandemic and prepares for the recovery that will come.

“We wanted to remind our students that we are all in this together. Whether we’re students, faculty, staff or  alumni, we are a community and a partner to our community,” explained TAMIU president Dr. Pablo Arenaz.

“We know full well the challenges that this sudden transition has created.  We also know that we share the challenge, we lead change, we find solutions… and we always do so better when we are together.  Most of all, we know that a recovery is coming and we’ll return to better days together,” he observed.

The site is anchored by a video that captures the campus and its ongoing higher education mission.  Additional student and community-generated content includes student insights into their experience during this challenge, resources for body and mind, recommended diversions in books, movies and music, ongoing opportunities for student involvement, inspiring examples  of alumni service, campus news and opportunities to stay connected across social media platforms.

Registration for Maymester, Summer and Fall 2020 courses at TAMIU is now underway. Maymester and Summer courses will be offered online. A catalog containing the nearly 100 TAMIU undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs is at http://catalog.tamiu.edu

As part of its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, TAMIU’s campus is closed only to the general public. Entry to campus continues for students, faculty, staff and those having legitimate reasons to be on campus. Online and virtual services at the University continue, practicing all CDC Guidelines on gathering, masking and social distancing and with most staff working remotely.  Office hours are subject to change and it is recommended that phone or email contact be made first to determine the office’s schedule of operation.   An online directory is here.

The University’s dedicated COVID-19 website is updated daily and includes information on office schedules and services, an expansive FAQ, quick links, student resources, official information links and much more.
