Texas A&M International University  (TAMIU) College of Arts and Sciences’ Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree program is one of the best in the nation, according to online source, Study.com.

TAMIU’s Bachelor of Criminal Justice program ranks #17 among the 50 Best Bachelor of Criminal Justice Degrees, according to online source, Study.com.

The site states it arrived at its comprehensive list after analyzing data about undergraduate programs across the United States. The full ranking can be found here: https://study.com/degrees/bachelors-degrees-in-criminal-justice.html

“For criminal justice programs, we looked at factors such as internship opportunities with law enforcement agencies, professional experience of faculty members, accreditation from criminal justice and law enforcement organizations, and the availability of concentrations and certification programs in specific criminal justice fields,” the site states.

TAMIU Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Claudia San Miguel, said the honor is an affirmation of faculty dedication to the program.

“We are honored to receive this recognition. It’s truly a testament to our faculty and the opportunities they have created for our students. As a program, we strive to provide quality education as well as active learning experiences for students. Our goal is to not only provide foundational and advanced knowledge in criminal justice, but also to provide experiences, such as internships and faculty-led research opportunities, to prepare our students for a rewarding and fulfilling career in the field,” Dr. San Miguel said.

TAMIU features a standard Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, as well as a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences with a Criminal Justice concentration. The latter degree option is a particularly appealing choice for students who already have professional law enforcement backgrounds in the State of Texas since the program allows for Texas Commission on Law Enforcement training hours to fulfill up to 21 of the credits necessary to complete the program, the site notes.

TAMIU criminal justice students also have the option of joining a variety of relevant extracurricular organizations recognized by the school, including a chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the TAMIU Criminal Justice Association, and the school's chapter of ASIS International for future security professionals, the site observes.
