TAMIU Faculty-Centric Art Exhibit Continues Through Oct. 28

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) faculty members provided two exciting, in-person visual and performing art opportunities for members of the TAMIU community and the public.

The faculty-led art exhibit “Think Fast” hosted an opening reception Thursday, Sept. 30 from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Gallery. The exhibit continues through Thursday, Oct. 28 can be seen by appointment.

University faculty members exhibiting their artwork include Emily Bayless, Thomas Brown, Josias Figueirido, John Hickey, Julio Mendez, Jenny Olvera and Jesse Shaw. Artwork on display ranges from two-and three-dimensional pieces, including painting, printmaking, ceramics, drawing and photography.

During the exhibit, the use of face-coverings is highly recommended and social distancing will be observed.

On Friday, Oct. 1 University music faculty presented the Faculty Opening Concert at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.  It was the first live performance for audiences by faculty since the Pandemic began.  

The concert featured the talents of Dr. Colin Campbell, Dana Crabtree, Dr. Fritz Gechter, Dr. Nicole Gillotti, Dr. Tatiana Gorbunova, Dr. Sarah Hetrick, Melissa Hinojosa, Dr. Yu-Mei Huang, Dr. Kevin Lindberg, Orlando Medrano, Dr. James Moyer, Jerry Quintero, John Reimund and Dr. Gilberto Soto.
