TAMIU Ranks High on Social Mobility, Top Public Schools in 2022 U.S. News and World Report Rankings

Dr. Pablo Arenaz

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) once again ranked high on Social Mobility in the 2022 U.S. News and World Report's Best College Rankings Regional Universities West category-- TAMIU ranked No. 15.

TAMIU was the only Texas university  in the Regional Universities West category and in The Texas A&M University System to be included in the Top 15 ranking among 122 schools.

Of the importance of social mobility, the publication's editors note, "Economically disadvantaged students are less likely than others to finish college, even when controlling for other characteristics. But some colleges are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions or disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants."

They continue, "The vast majority of these federal grants are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are under $50,000."

In addition to the Social Mobility ranking, TAMIU was the only school in The Texas A&M University System included in the Top 30 ranking among 66 schools in the Top Public Schools Regional Universities West category. TAMIU also ranked #64 in the Best Regional Universities West ranking among 126 schools, and was the highest-ranked school in the A&M System.

TAMIU President Dr. Pablo Arenaz said that the rankings are a testament to the University's commitment to providing students with top-quality education.

"As we continue classes on campus this Fall and students consider TAMIU for the Spring semester, news of these latest rankings help to once again underscore TAMIU's role as a transformative agent in students' lives," Dr. Arenaz said, "Empowered and supported by TAMIU, generations of graduates have seen their incomes and earning potential increase dramatically and measurably. TAMIU graduates are truly catalysts to lasting impacts all over the world.”

He continued, "We are honored to figure prominently in these rankings and commend both our gifted faculty and our dedicated students for their commitment.  Faculty daily impart valuable knowledge to our students who meet every challenge and truly Go Beyond.”

Other Texas institutions in the Top 10 ranking included Texas A&M University (2), Rice University (7), University of Texas at Arlington (9), and University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley (10).

TAMIU  also recently joined a select group of Top Public Universities in Texas, ranking eighth in the 2022 Niche assessment.
