In some courses, attendance and in-class participation are ongoing requirements and an integral part of the work of the course. In other courses, occasional in-class assessments may occur, sometimes without advance notice. It is the responsibility of the faculty member to inform each class at the beginning of the semester of the in- class participation expected and the effect absences will have on the student’s evaluation of work in the course. F. Authorized absences are allowed for official University-sponsored activities that are: a. Required due to mandatory participation in a University-sponsored activity. b.
