Congratulations to Anna Yvette Garza de Leon ’05 and Carlos de Leon ’02 on the birth of their baby, Ali Paola, born on Wednesday, March 14th in Laredo, TX. She and her husband Carlos de Leon ’02 became the proud parents of
baby girl Ali Paola.

Spotlight
As an adolescent, Dolores L. Campos’77 knew she was to become a teacher. “Going into the education field was something that I knew I was going to do since I was young. It was expected. I began tutoring when I was 13 — it was just something that was in me.”
Crediting her mentors and fellow educators, Humberto Treviño and Horacio Acevedo, Campos’s professional career began in 1977 at Leyendecker Elementary where she helped the youngest of the minds develop good social and classroom behavior. She later worked for LISD’s high school level dropout prevention program PEP (Pregnancy Educational Parenting), as a fourth grade special education teacher at Alma Pierce Elementary, and in 2002, she accepted a position as a human resources coordinator. Campos currently serves as director of career and technical education for LISD.
Dolores Campos also hopes to serve her community with plans to run for Laredo City Council in 2008. “My mother instilled in our entire family the importance of participating in community projects and giving back as much of us as possible,” Campos said. She and her husband of 32 years, Reynaldo Campos Jr., have two sons, Carlos Reynaldo and Javier Alejandro.

Lizette Yvonne Garcia ’02 and Michael Covarrubia were celebrated their engagement party with friends and family at the Laredo Country Club. The couple plan to get married later during the year.
