TTVN is the wide area data and
video network for institutions of
The Texas A&M University Sys-
tem. Managed in College Station
by the Assocaite Provost for In-
foramtion Technology, TTVN can
conduct simultaneous connec-
tions to multiple sites that use dif-
ferent brand video conferencing
equipment to communicate with
one another seamlessly. Site co-
ordinators ensure each TTVN site
is ready for connections. TTVN is
the primary option for academic
courses that require videoconfer-
encing solution for faculty or stu-
dents at a distance, but requires
users at a distance to have access
to locations with videoconferenc-
ing quipment. More information
about TTVN may be found at:
BlueJeans provides an interop-
erable cloud-based video con-
ferencing service that connects
participants accross a wide range
of devices and conferencing
platforms. Users may connect
to BlueJeans meeting rooms
through room videoconferencing
systems like, rooms with Tand-
berg/Cisco devices, computers
through web browser, mobile
device app or phone. TAMIU
can host a total of four meeting
rooms simultaneously that can
hold up to 25 participants, includ-
ing the host. If users at a distance
are unable to locate a site with
video conferencing equipment
for TTVN connections, Blue-
Jeans is the next option. More
information can be found at:
h t t p: //www. bl uejeans . com
Connections between two or three
sites with videoconferencing
equipment can be made, provided
that testing is conducted at least
24 hours prior to the event. Point-
to-point connections are a last
resort used in case of emergency.
Adobe Connect is a web-based tool
for faculty members to keep stu-
dents engaged by conducting live
lectures over the Internet or by re-
cording mini-lectures that can be
accessed by students on-demand.
