United ISD Announces College of Education Alumna Zaida Gonzalez as Director of Elementary Education

United Independent School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos are pleased to announce Zaida Gonzalez as the new Director of Elementary Education.

Zaida Gonzalez is a nineteen-year veteran educator of United ISD with vast experience working both at the campus and district level. She is a proud graduate of Texas A&M International University where she received both a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and Masters Degree in School Administration. 

This past year, she served as the Director for Bilingual Education. Prior to that, she served as the Principal of Trautmann Elementary School. Before her work at Trautmann Elementary, Gonzalez worked at Cuellar Elementary as a Fourth Grade Teacher, as a Reading First Literacy Coach a Juarez-Lincoln Elementary, as a Special Education Instructional Coordinator, and as an Assistant Principal at Malakoff Elementary. 

Gonzalez's passion for learning has earned her a number of accolades and has garnered the respect of her peers who admire her work ethic and dedication. During her tenure with the district, Gonzalez was named H-E-B's Elementary Principal of the Year.

Mrs. Gonzalez succeeds Ms. Eloisa Diaz who has retired after completing 40 years of service. Gonzalez will assume her newly appointed position in August 2019.
