Musical Killer B's Invade A&M International July 12

Killer B's will invade Texas A&M International University Sunday, July 12 as the Cactus Pear Music Festival debuts in Laredo.

The Killer B's is an extraordinary program of chamber music featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and The Beatles, explained Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio, artistic director of the Festival.

"The Killer B's celebrates the beginnings of chamber music with the best ever written. The program will sizzle with talent and fun, making Cactus Pear the not-to-be-missed musical festival of the summer months," she said.

The musical event will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 12 at Texas A&M International University in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library (room 319). Tickets are $15 each for the general public, $12 each for groups of 10 or more, and $7 each for students. Ticket price includes a reception to be held on the third floor of the Killam Library after the performance.

Tickets may be purchased at the door. Informational fliers are available at the University's Office of Public Affairs located in the Killam Library, room 268.

Persons who plan to attend the Killer B's program should plan to arrive promptly for optimum seat selection.

The Killer B's program will include Bach's Harpsichord Concerto in F minor, BWV 1056; Beethoven's Trio in E Flat, Op. 1 No. 1 for Piano, Violin and Cello; The Beatles' Medley, arr. Balentine; and Brahms' Quintet for Clarinet and Strings.

Cactus Pear Music Festival performers are renowned musicians from the orchestras of Houston, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and San Antonio, and from the US and Mexico. Performers for the July 12 program include artistic director Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio, violin; Paul Cigan, clarinet; Christina Scott Edelen, harpsichord; Fred Edelen, cello; Stephanie Jutt, flute; Rita Porfiris, viola; Jeffrey Sykes, piano; and Ertan Torgul, violin.

At the conclusion of the program, audience members will have an opportunity to meet the musicians at a reception to be held on the third floor of the Killam Library.

"This promises to be an extraordinary event full of exciting music, appetizing edibles, and great fun. I look forward to seeing everyone at the festival," added Sant'Ambrogio.
