TAMIU Organ Recital Series Returns Aug. 29

The new season of the Texas A&M International University Organ Recital Series kicks off with organist Eric Mellenbruch Sunday, Aug. 29 at 4 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.
Admission is free and open to the public.

The afternoon’s program includes music written and composed by Dieterich Buxtehude, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Gottfried Walther, Maurice Duruflé, Russell Schulz-Widmar, Felix Mendelssohn and César Franck.

Mellenbruch is director of music and organist at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Austin, Texas. He oversees a music ministry comprised of four choirs and their directors and is responsible for the musical component of more than 200 services, including monthly choral evensong and several choral Masses each year.

In addition to his work at Good Shepherd, Mellenbruch is a recitalist and collaborative musician. He’s appeared as organ soloist across Texas, including multiple appearances on the Great Organ Series at the University of Texas and at the Victoria Bach Festival.

He received his Bachelor of Music (church music) and Master of Music (organ performance) from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He is a member of the American Guild of Organists and the Organ Historical Society and is also the typographic designer for the Concordia University Press.

The Sharkey-Corrigan Organ is a gift of the E. H. Corrigan Foundation, led by longtime Laredo businessman and passionate supporter of the arts E. H. Corrigan. It was inaugurated in July 2006.

The next recital in the Series is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. Guest artist is Dr. Eunjoo Chung.
