TAMIU Ranked Third in US for Hispanics

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) has been ranked third in the nation among the 33 Most Popular U.S. Colleges for Hispanic Students.

The College Database released its listing this week for top Colleges and Universities that attract and support Hispanic undergraduate and graduate students.

Utilizing IPEDS, the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education, The College Database ranked TAMIU No. 3 on its national list, with a reported 94% of students being of Hispanic descent.

TAMIU president Ray Keck said the honor was an affirmation of the University’s commitment to the students and communities it serves.

“We’re enormously proud of this ranking as it reflects on both our commitment to our students and the communities we serve. Every day, TAMIU students are discovering themselves, realizing their higher education dreams and forging fantastic futures. It’s very gratifying to be the student gateway to those realizations,” Dr. Keck said.

Matt Davis, managing director of communications and partnerships with The College Database noted the importance of the listing and TAMIU’s student commitment.

“When pursuing a college degree, it’s important for students to find a school that fits their academic, professional, and campus wants and needs. Therefore, it’s equally important to recognize the colleges and universities with programs and atmospheres that truly make a difference. The College Database is a free, non-commercial website dedicated to providing current and future post-secondary students and their families with accurate and valuable college- and career-related information. Data utilized comes from the federal government and the Carnegie Foundation.

Registration for Summer and Fall at TAMIU is currently underway. Summer Session II begins Monday, July 15.

Fall semester classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 28.

TAMIU summer office hours are from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and from 8 a.m. – 12 noon on Fridays.
