Nov. 27 is TAMIU Giving Tuesday

As Cyber Monday has keyboards clicking nationwide, the Texas A&M International University  (TAMIU) Alumni Association encourages Laredoans to follow with Giving Tuesday.

TAMIU director of Alumni Relations, Yelitza Howard said Giving Tuesday has been a successful part of the Association’s fundraising efforts on behalf of the University, its students and its programs, since 2015.

“Each fall, the TAMIU community comes together for an international day of giving on Tuesday, Nov. 27,  that spans 24 hours.  We call on our community of alumni  around the world and the community at large to partner with us to help empower our Alumni Association to respond to the University’s issues and opportunities with their gifts.  These gifts can support student financial aid, campus facilities upgrades, support for students to travel and present research with faculty, or to address the area of greatest need. Since 2015, TAMIU’s Giving Tuesday has seen hundreds of people provide nearly $20,000 in support of areas across campus,” Howard explained.

And just as today’s shoppers can execute their shopping list from a desktop or smartphone, TAMIU Giving Tuesday partners can do the same by clicking on this link:

“We’ve fully embraced today’s technology and our giving community can respond to online challenges that will amplify their gift, let them be a part of a spirited  College or School competition and share their giving nature with friends and family on social media…all with a few clicks,” Howard  said.

“This year, we have a new matching gift component which allows donors’ gifts to go twice as far as a regular gift by matching $1 per $1 while quantities last,” she noted, “We’ll also have some special digital events going on during the campaign to help drive participation. Our goal is to engage with 150 donors.”Howard encourages everyone to embrace TAMIU’s Giving Tuesday. A dedicated Giving Tuesday web site will share details and updates throughout the campaign and is located at http://www.tamiu.edu/vpia/givingtuesday/index.shtml

“In this season of giving, we urge our alumni and friends to remember their University and share their partnership through TAMIU’s Giving Tuesday.  It’s a great way to give back, give forward and Give Tuesday,” she said.
