TAMIU Joins Dr. Cigarroa and Commissioner Tijerina as Webb Co. LULAC 2021 Orgullo Latino Legacy Awardees

The Webb County LULAC has named recipients of its second annual Orgullo Latino Legacy Awards. The achievements, contributions, and support for the Latino community and LULAC’s mission by these individuals or organizations  has impacted the lives of children and families throughout Webb County. 

This year's recipients are Laredo physician Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa, Webb County Commissioner Rosaura "Wawi" Tijerina, and Texas A&M International University (TAMIU). Webb County LULAC indicated that all three Award recipients represent the strength and dedication that have kept the community united during challenging and extraordinary times.

In accordance with CDC and local health guidance and recommendations, this year’s Orgullo Latino Legacy Award Ceremony will be hosted virtually  Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.

Virtual access tickets are available for a $25 donation in support of  the 2021 Scholarship Fund.  Organizers hope to award 50 $500 scholarships to Laredo-Webb County high school seniors. 

The official virtual program features video testimony from 2020 LULAC scholarship recipients, a presentation of the Orgullo Latino Legacy Awards, and more. Special promotional and sponsorship-level opportunities are available.

The Webb County LULAC hopes to  join the many LULAC councils across the United States to award up to $28,500 worth of scholarships.
