TAMIU Ranked Eighth Among Top Public Universities in Texas
Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) has joined a select group of Top Public Universities in Texas, ranking eighth in the 2022 assessment compiled by Niche.
Niche’s Top Public Universities ranking is based on rigorous analysis of academic, admissions, financial, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education alongside millions of reviews from students and alumni. It compares over 500 public colleges and state universities. Over 1300 reviews by TAMIU alumni and students were also considered. The ranking is available at https://www.niche.com/colleges/search/top-public-universities/s/texas/
TAMIU president Dr. Pablo Arenaz said he appreciates the Niche assessment’s data rigor and utilization of student input.
“We are always encouraged by analyses that gauge our efforts to serve our students and ensure their success. These rankings are important comparative barometers and can offer keen insight into a University’s commitment and mission delivery.
“I was especially pleased to see students’ assessments of their professors and that 82% agree professors put a lot of effort into teaching their courses and that 75% feel tuition is affordable and very accessible. It’s also important to note that 91% of graduates are employed two years after graduation, considerably above the national average of 83%,” he said.
Universities joining TAMIU in the Top Public Universities in Texas designation were Texas State University (10), University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley (12), Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (15), University of Texas-San Antonio (16), and Texas Woman’s University (17), among others.
Other 2022 Niche rankings for TAMIU included Best College Food in Texas (No. 6 of 73); Best Value Colleges in Texas (No. 19 of 82), and Colleges with the Best Professors in Texas (No. 15 of 81), among others. Nationally, it was also ranked by Niche as being No. 42 among Best Hispanic-Serving Institutions in America and No. 45 for Best Colleges for Criminal Justice in America.
Just last week, TAMIU was recognized as one of the nation’s top-ranked Southern Colleges in Washington Monthly Magazine’s “Best Bang for the Buck” category, ranking fourth. TAMIU has appeared repeatedly in the Magazine’s Top Ten since 2012.
