Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) College of Nursing and Health Science faculty and staff are smiling even more broadly this week.  EduMed.org has named the College one of the best in the nation for online learning in healthcare in its 2021 rankings.

Over 7,700 accredited schools were reviewed for the rankings, which looked for those Colleges and Schools with the best combinations of online learning opportunity, affordability, and student support. Eligible schools had to hold active regional accreditation and have at least one partially online program in the ranking subject. Only 8 percent of U.S. postsecondary institutions earned a ranking position in the 2021 EduMed.org Rankings.

TAMIU programs earned six distinctions.  The College of Nursing and Health Sciences Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing’s online RN to BSN program was ranked 14th of the Top 50 programs in the nation and was the highest-ranked of A&M System programs reviewed. Only two other Texas programs made the Top 50.   The online RN to BSN program was also ranked 24th in the Top 5o of Most Affordable RN to BSN Online Programs. TAMIU was the only  A&M System campus ranked.

TAMIU’s Online MSN Program was ranked 15th out of 50 programs surveyed for offering the Most Affordable Online MSN program, again the highest-ranked of A&M System programs reviewed.

TAMIU’s online MSN in Nursing Administration was ranked 19th among the Best MSN in Nursing Administration Online programs of 20 surveyed.  TAMIU’s online RN to MSN in Nursing Administration was launched this Fall.

TAMIU’s online nurse practitioner programs were ranked 20th of 50 among the Most Affordable Online Nurse Practitioner Programs, the highest in the A&M System.

The sixth distinction was for Best Nurse Practitioner Programs Online with TAMIU ranking 44th out of 50 and the only A&M System campus ranked.

TAMIU dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences Dr. Marivic Torregosa said that as students consider their options for 2022, rankings can help guide decision processes.

“We’re honored by all rankings as they show how strongly our programs perform with like or similar peer programs.  As students are considering programs and their advantages and specialties, rankings such as these present a wider spectrum of information that should figure in their decision-making.  Overall, these rankings serve to affirm our faculty’s commitment to academic excellence, the resources, and support available to students and the professional opportunities that will be possible upon graduation,” Dr. Torregosa noted.

Nursing Schools Almanac also recently notified the College of Nursing and Health Sciences of its ranking among 2021’s best prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs in the state.

TAMIU’s high performance on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), earning a 92.6% pass rate for first-time NCLEX-RN takers, figured prominently in the ranking of 20th among 48 ranked programs.

TAMIU outranked some impressive competitors, including the University of Texas at El Paso (25), UT-Health Science Center-San Antonio (27), and UT-Rio Grande Valley (35).  TAMIU was also the highest-ranked campus among The Texas A&M University System’s southern regional campuses.

University HQ, an online source, ranked TAMIU 6th among the Top 100 Best Affordable Nursing College Programs in the nation.

This fall, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences launched a new RN to MSN Nursing Administration program.

The School of Nursing’s other recognized programs include a traditional BSN program, an online RN to BSN, an online Master’s in Nursing Administration, and an online Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program.

TAMIU’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences is also the proud home of the University’s undergraduate programs in Communication Disorders, Kinesiology, and Public Health.

EduMed.org says it is dedicated to connecting students with expert-driven information about education, training, and financial aid opportunities in healthcare and medical support.
