TAMIU Hosts Annual ‘Walk to End Alzheimer’s'

Walk to End Alzheimer's event

Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Walk to End Alzheimer’s benefit is happening Saturday, Nov. 6 outside the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a Welcome Ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. The Walk itself begins at 9:30 a.m.

Individuals interested in joining Team TAMIU and participating in this year’s Walk are encouraged to sign up at https://go.tamiu.edu/alzwalk21.

This year’s event already raised over $129,000, well over a $91,000 nationwide goal, with 338 participants and 60 teams around the United States.

The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

While individuals are encouraged to join at their local event, participants can also take part in a Walk from Home activity in their neighborhood. All local events will implement safety protocols, including physical distancing, contactless registration, hand sanitizing stations and more.

Individuals who prefer to participate in the Walk from Home can still take part through the mobile app. More information on downloading the mobile app for iPhone or Android is available here.

There is no fee to register for the Walk, but participants are encouraged to raise funds to help advance the Alzheimer’s Association mission by enabling critical care and support services and advancing research toward methods of prevention, treatment and, ultimately, a cure.
