TAMIU Offers Parents Several Summer Camps this June, July

As the school year comes to an end, parents searching for summer activities can take advantage of several camp offerings at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU).

Dusty’s Junior University Summer Camp

Making its return, Dusty’s Junior University Summer Camp is currently open for registration. Only 15students per grade level will be permitted per session. Grades available range from Kinder through the 5th grade. Registration is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Planned activities include visits to the fish laboratory and the TAMIU Garden. Campers will also meet with special guests during each session. Geared toward nurturing creativity, knowledge and social interactions, campers will enjoy art classes, hands-on engineering projects and group activities. 

Sessions are available June 6 – 16, June 20 – 30, July 5 – 14, and July 18 – 28. Sessions are offered Monday – Thursday (except for the July 5 - 14 session, which is offered Tuesday - Friday), from 7:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., with lunch included. Aftercare from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. is available at an additional cost.

Sing to Win @ All-State: The TAMIU Summer Choir Camp

Aspiring singers and high school students can also take part in the University’s first-ever choir camp. The “Sing to Win @ All-State: The TAMIU Summer Choir Camp” will be offered June 13 – 16 from 5 – 9 p.m. and will be hosted by University music faculty and guest clinicians. 

Camp highlights include focused professional guidance on advanced techniques, strengthening vocal stamina, specialized guidance, sight-reading preparation, and mastering foreign language diction, among others.

D.I.A.L.L. STEM Immersion Experience

High school juniors and seniors familiar with or those who want to learn more about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) or STEM-related adjacent fields are encouraged to attend the week-long opportunity. 

The program, dubbed the Development of Informatics Accelerated Learning in Laredo (D.I.A.L.L.), will be held June 13 – 17 from 9 a.m. – to 4:30 p.m. at the University’s campus. Program attendees will learn how informatics can be applied to each field through hands-on learning experiences. 

The program is hosted by the University and the University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston School of Biomedical Informatics.

Rec Sports Summer Camp

If you’re searching for activities to keep your child active this summer, look no further than TAMIU’s Rec Sports Summer Camp. 

Available to campers ages 5 – 13, the Camp runs Monday through Thursday, July 11 – 28, with drop-off starting at 7:30 a.m. and pick-up available until 12:30 p.m. 

Campers enjoy a range of fun activities, including a Word of the Day, leadership discussions, recreational games, dance fitness, a Fine Arts showcase and lifetime sports development.
