On Giving Day, the span of 1,970 minutes or 33 hours can help give Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students a reason to celebrate.

Giving Day is underway Tuesday, Nov.  15 at 8 a.m. and  through Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m.

The annual campaign has been part of TAMIU’s fundraising efforts on behalf of its students, faculty, and programs since 2015. Its time period also recognizes the University’s 1970 founding.

Rosanne Palacios, TAMIU vice president for Institutional Advancement, said that Giving Day is a call to community during this season of giving thanks.

“Each fall, the TAMIU community joins to observe the power of partnership and giving.  We ask our local and global community of alumni to support student financial aid, campus facilities upgrades, student travel to present research, or to address the area of greatest need.  It’s a chance to Go Big. Go Bold. Go Beyond,” Palacios explained.

The University is hoping to exceed last year’s successful campaign which saw 340 donors give over $31,000 in just 33 hours. And just as today’s shoppers can complete their shopping from a desktop or smartphone, TAMIU Giving Day partners can do the same.

The online giving form is quick, safe, and easy to use.

Palacios noted that additional online challenge elements provide Giving Day participants ways to amplify their support.

“With today’s technology, our giving community can respond to online challenges that amplify their gift, let them be a part of a spirited College or School competition, or become a Giving Day Advocate, sharing their giving nature with friends and family on social media…with just a click,” she said.

“In the Challenges component, we have $18,000 to unlock in giving challenges. Challenges include spotlight challenges in various student areas, in addition to challenges focused on Chapter/Affiliates, U.S.  and foreign countries and social media. “In this season of giving and gathering once again post-Pandemic, we encourage all our alumni, family, and friends to remember their University and join TAMIU’s Giving Day. In 1,970 minutes, a lifetime of difference can be made. It’s a great way to give back, to give forward, to transform lives and to build a better and brighter future for us all,” Palacios concluded.
