TAMIU Launches New Threads Account, Latest Social Media Tool

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) has established its presence on Threads, a text-based social media app unveiled by Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

TAMIU’s Threads account is available and can be followed by visiting https://www.threads.net/@txamiu. 

Meta’s newest venture was unveiled late Wednesday, July 5, and has since collected over 30 million users in less than a 24-hour timespan.  To date, the University's Threads account has accumulated over 670 followers. 

“We’re excited to launch our newest social media presence and to remain at the forefront of social media trends and content creation,” noted Christine Rojas, interactive media coordinator at the University. 

“We hope we can create a space and Threads community that is welcoming and informative while also being familiar and lighthearted. Our goal is to meet students and our community digitally and create those valuable connections…not only in person but online, as well,” said Rojas.

As a result of actions taken by the Texas Legislature to address affordability in higher education, all resident undergraduate academic costs, including tuition, mandatory academic fees, all academic-related general fees, and college course fees, have been frozen for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years at TAMIU.
