TAMIU Office of Information Technology Offers Enhanced User Experience for Students this Fall
Texas A&M International University's Office of Information Technology (TAMIU OIT) is excited to provide an enhanced user experience for students this Fall with the introduction of a range of cutting-edge technological support services.
This Fall, students will benefit from improved coverage campus-wide with the addition of 92 Wi-Fi access points and the replacement of 180 legacy access points, which will result in improved overall speeds throughout the campus for all, said Miguel Munoa, associate vice president of Information Technology.
"TAMIU continues its commitment to constantly improving our campus experience for our University community and visitors," Munoa said, "Today’s students are highly mobile and our campus Wi-Fi infrastructure recognizes this."
He continued, "These improvements provide an open-ended, flexible architecture for dynamic growth to parallel that of our campus and student body."
TAMIU OIT will continue to expand and identify areas on campus that would benefit from improved Wi-Fi coverage, Munoa said, adding that through its Helpdesk, TAMIU OIT welcomes student feedback about their campus Wi-Fi experience.
Understanding the importance of safeguarding sensitive information and providing a secure computing environment, OIT also provides students step-by-step guides and quick and easy instructions on how to create their Dusty email account, manage their account, setup two-factor authentication and troubleshoot Wi-Fi on their computer.
For students who plan to purchase their next personal computer or laptop, OIT also provides links to dedicated Dell University and Apple Store sites for exclusive savings for students.
To connect with OIT services, students can email helpdesk@tamiu.edu, call 956.326.2310 and or start a remote or chat session.
As a result of actions taken by the Texas Legislature to address affordability in higher education, all resident undergraduate academic costs, including tuition, mandatory academic fees, all academic-related general fees, and college course fees, have been frozen for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years at TAMIU. The University has not raised tuition and fees since 2021.
