TAMIU Alumni Association Awards 18 Student Scholarships

Texas A&M International University's (TAMIU) Alumni Association kicked off the Fall semester by awarding 18 well-deserved scholarships to currently enrolled Dustdevils distributed during an Alumni meeting Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024.

In attendance to receive the TAMIU Alumni Association Endowed Scholarships were: Alberto Aleman, Theresa Espino, Anette Garza, Anakaren González Villarreal, Yulissa Leal, Sarah Martínez, and Laura Mitchell. They were joined by family, friends and Association members.

Additional scholarship recipients included Hania De La Fuente, Oscar Feschuk, Candela González Domingo, Carolina Mendez Gracida, Analy Delgado Maldonado, Alicia Mathewson, Ximena Rios, Ashley Ramírez Sánchez, Stone Strongin, and Abigail Villanueva.  

Presenting this year's awards were the newest Board members of the University's Alumni Association including Jorge Quijano ('09), president; Luis Sánchez (' 20), vice-president; and Armando Covarrubias (' 17), parliamentarian.

The Alumni Association supports the mission of the University by inspiring alums to give back in various ways. The Association hosts various events throughout the year in tandem with the University's Office of Alumni Relations.

Since 2019, the University's Alumni Association has awarded $28,000 in scholarship funds to deserving graduate and undergraduate students. 

Scholarships were awarded to both undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees at the University. Students applied for the TAMIU Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship via TAMIU’s Fund$Finder, an interactive search tool that assists students in locating relevant scholarship opportunities.

To receive the Scholarship, students must meet the University's scholarship criteria, be enrolled full-time, and hold an overall GPA between 2.0 – 3.0. Eligible students should also meet the federal guidelines as a financially disadvantaged student.
