Dr. Daniel Covarrubias, director of the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Texas Center for Border Economic and Enterprise Development (TCBEED), recently participated in the 2024 TradeHub Summit in Mexico City.

He shared his expertise in discussions on the future of North American trade and the transformative power of logistics technologies. The summit took place September 25 - 26 at the Hilton Reforma.

The event brought together industry leaders and experts and featured Dr. Covarrubias in two key roles. He participated in a panel discussion on The Future of North American Trade, joining fellow panelists Adrian González of Global Alliance Solutions and Adam M. Sulewski, U.S. CBP Trade Representative at the Mexican Embassy, with Robert Stein from Braumiller Consulting Group, moderating. The panel explored critical topics shaping the future of trade in the region, discussing the impact of emerging technologies, security considerations, the development of smart borders, and the geopolitical factors influencing North American trade dynamics.

At the Summit’s conclusion, Covarrubias delivered a closing masterclass on Logistechs, examining how these innovative technologies are revolutionizing trade and logistics processes. The session provided attendees with valuable insights into cutting-edge developments that are reshaping the industry.

"The TradeHub Summit 2024 offered an exceptional platform for engaging with industry leaders on the pressing issues and opportunities in North American trade," Covarrubias said, noting, "Our discussions on technology, security, and geopolitical impacts underscore the rapid evolution of the trade landscape and the need for adaptive strategies."

His Logistechs masterclass highlighted the transformative potential of technologies such as artificial intelligence (A.I.), blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in optimizing supply chains and enhancing cross-border trade efficiency.

Organized by the Confederation of Customs Brokers Associations of México (CAAAREM), the 2024 TradeHub Summit brought together a diverse group of experts and practitioners in international trade and logistics. Covarrubias expressed his gratitude to the organizers, Marcel Joffroy González and his team, for their efforts in facilitating this critical dialogue.

The author of the recently published book "Navigating the New Era of U.S. – México Trade," Covarrubias continues to be at the forefront of discussions on the evolving nature of cross-border commerce and the role of technology in shaping its future.
