Save For Summer Program (S4S)

TAMIU's S4S program allows faculty who work less than 12 months a year to extend their pay over 12 months. The S4S program starts with employees indicating a specific amount to be withheld from their 9-month net pay. Then, the total amount withheld is disbursed in three equal installments during June, July, and August of that fiscal year.

To enroll, revise or cancel the S4S plan, fill out the Save for Summer Authorization Form and submit it to the Office of Budget, Payroll, and Fiscal Analysis.

Important Reminders:

  • Employees will not receive any interest earnings for the S4S funds.
  • In order to enroll in S4S program or revise your S4S deduction, an authorization form must be submitted no later than the 14th of that month for the change to take effect on the next payroll.
  • You will automatically be re-enroll in Save for Summer at the beginning of each new Fiscal Year, based on your previous enrollment choices.
  • There are no catch-up provisions for any expired portion of the fiscal year.
  • Employees can cancel their S4S participation at any time by submitting a cancellation form and may elect to receive disbursement of S4S funds on the next available monthly pay date.
  • Following a S4S cancellation, employees may not participate in the S4S plan until the next fiscal year.

At any point, an employee can check their S4S balance in Workday by running "My Save For Summer Balance" task. For guidance, refer to the instructions below:

My Save for Summer Balance instructions

Employees may use the Save for Summer Calculator to determine their monthly S4S deduction amount.

  • This calculator is not proof of employment or proof of income.
  • S4S cannot be retroactively corrected, if a deduction does not work as intended, the employee will need to submit a new S4S Authorization Form to correct the deduction going forward.
