Texas A&M International University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences and its Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing administration, faculty, and students are smiling more broadly with recent news that the Online RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (RN-BSN) has been ranked No. 2 in the State of Texas.

The ranking was provided by RegisteredNursing.org,  which noted the importance of strong programs like TAMIU’s that are addressing the essential need for  BSN-educated Nurses. A full ranking report is available at https://www.registerednursing.org/rn-to-bsn/texas/#show

Ranking authors observed, “As more healthcare systems make a conscious effort to hire BSN-educated RNs, ADN or diploma-educated nurses in Texas may wonder how they can stay on top of the employment heap. Fortunately, there are many specialized RN to BSN programs designed to fit this growing need, allowing RNs to complete their bachelor's degree in nursing and maximize their employment opportunities. Online RN to BSN programs have also taken off in popularity, as they allow students to complete their education anytime, anywhere.”

Of the ranking, Dr. Marivic Torregosa, Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, shared her elation.

“It’s a source of great pride for us,” said Dr. Torregosa, “our dedicated faculty and staff work closely with our students and we provide a broad range of support and resources to ensure their success.  A ranking like this validates both the academic rigor of the program and the commitment of our students.”

Referring specifically to TAMIU, the ranking authors noted, “TAMIU offers an

RN to BSN online degree for nurses who provide patient care for a living.   More than nursing, the program encompasses critical thinking, effective communication, ethical issues, conflict resolution, safety, and quality.”

Holding the current No. 1 RN-BSN ranking in Texas is TAMIU’s sister regional campus in The Texas A&M University System, Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX.

RegisteredNursing.org  used a variety of factors in establishing metrics to measure programs.  Among these were accreditation, tuition and fees, program completion, tenured faculty, acceptance rate, and graduation rate, among others.

TAMIU also offers an Online Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Master’s degree program that can be completed in 2 ½ years or 3 years, depending on the semester of entry. Complete admission requirements are available here.

Whether exploring the Online RN to BSN, the Online FNP, or other TAMIU nursing programs, Dr. Torregosa encouraged all nurses to continue to explore their opportunities for professional growth with TAMIU.

“We know that the demand for committed and qualified nurses will continue to grow, and we want to help all nurses to excel and grow in their profession.  We look forward to working with nurses to explore growth opportunities available to them at TAMIU,” she concluded.
