TAMIU hosting Binational Art Exhibition thru Sept. 20

Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will host the work of Laredo and Nuevo Laredo visual artists as part of the IX Binational Plastic Art Exhibition.

The exhibit will be displayed at the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center through Friday, Sept. 20.

The binational exhibit focuses on promoting the cultural identity of the U.S.–México border and will also promote the artistry of local talent. The theme, “Bridges and Border Crossings,” focuses on subjects like commerce, culture, unity, heritage, and more.

Contest organizers will appoint a jury of three members, who will select 12 works to be included in an upcoming calendar, as well as three exhibit winners.

Artistry will be judged based on technical skill, composition, aesthetic elements, originality, and interpretation of the exhibit’s theme.

Winners will be announced on Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. through the Instituto Cultural Mexicano de Laredo Facebook page.

Previously, the artwork was displayed at the Reyes Meza Museum in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Consulado General de México in Laredo, Instituto Cultural Mexicano de Laredo, Gobierno de Nuevo Laredo, Museo Reyes Meza, and TAMIU.
