IBC Lecture to Focus on International Taxes and Their Effects on Trade, Investment Oct. 16
International taxes and the evolution of multinational enterprises are the topics of discussion during the upcoming IBC Bank & Commerce Bank 2024–2025 Keynote Speaker Series.
Dr. Lorraine Eden, Professor Emerita of Management and Adjunct Professor of Law at Texas A&M University, will present her lecture, "Taxing Multinationals: Hic Sunt Dracones (Turbulent Times Ahead)!" on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Student Center Ballroom. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Admission is free of charge and open to the public.

The lecture is made possible through the TAMIU A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business and the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade as part of a series sponsored by IBC Bank and Commerce Bank.
Dr. Eden's lecture will focus on how multinational enterprises are being taxed in light of additional proposals to tax these enterprises differently. While the policy debates are happening globally, their effects will be felt worldwide, including trade and investment throughout the U.S. and Texas.
Eden is a member of the 2022–2025 United Nations Subcommittee on Transfer Pricing and an affiliated expert with the Analysis Group. Her work primarily focuses on transfer pricing or pricing-controlled transactions between associated enterprises through this organization.
While at Texas A&M, she has taught courses on transfer pricing and the economics of international business, among others. Eden's research primarily focuses on multinational enterprises' strategies and structures in the global economy. As one of the founding scholars of transfer pricing economics, she was ranked among the top two percent of the world's most-cited research authors.
Dr. Eden has been a Canada-U.S. Fulbright Scholar, a Pew Fellow at Harvard University, and a Dunning Research Professor at the University of Reading, U.K. She holds degrees in economics from Mount Allison, McGill, and Dalhousie Universities.
