The Testing Center will make its labs available to TAMIU students who need to use the Respondus Lockdown Browser during office hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Evening testing will also be made available by appointment and upon availability.

Texas A&M International University – (TAMIU) offers alternative admission testing for students that have applied to the university and who were unable to take the SAT® or ACT® on a nationally scheduled test date. If the 60-day time limit is violated the retest scores will be canceled automatically, and no refund will be made for canceled retests. The exam is only valid for TAMIU students who have applied.

The comprehensive exam (hereafter referred to as COMPS) is an exam required for Graduate students to complete their master’s degree in certain study/disciplines.

Math Placement Exam (Cost $20)

TAMIU students wanting to skip College Algebra (MATH 1314) and register directly into Pre-Calculus (MATH 2412) in their first semester must take the Pre-Calculus Mathematics Placement exam. This opportunity is designed for certain majors such as Mathematics, Biology, Science, and Engineering that require higher-level mathematics preparedness in order to fulfill requirements of the program of study.

You must first be TSI Exempt or TSI Complete in Mathematics in order to take the Pre-Calculus Mathematics Placement exam. If you pass the Pre-Calculus Mathematics Placement exam, you will be able to enroll in Pre-Calculus (MATH 2412).

Spanish Placement (free of charge)

The exam consist of listening, multiple choice, and short answer written response. You have 1 hour to complete the exam. It consist of basic to advance Spanish as it is a test that will place you into an appropriate level of a Spanish course.

The Spanish Placement Exam (SPE) will be offered from January 6-17, 2025, between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment. The SPE can only be taken once.

Exam fees vary by exam sponsor. ID requirements vary by exam sponsor as well. Each exam sponsor determines the type of documentation an examinee will need the day of their exam.

The Testing Center offers proctor exam services for individuals enrolled in other universities/colleges who require someone to administer an exam. Online proctoring is not available. There is a $25 fee to cover proctoring services.

All proctored exams are available by appointment only. Exams can only be administered during our office hours. Exams must begin within enough time to be completed before the office closes.

Testing center is closed on weekends and university holidays and closures.
