Student Fee Advisory Committee

Purpose

The Student Fee Advisory Committee (SFAC) is a university committee charged with advising the administration on the type, amount, and expenditure of compulsory fees under the Texas Education Code. These fees include 1) the student services fee, 2) the student health and medical services fee, 3) the student center facilities fee, and 4) the recreational sports fee.

Members

The Student Fee Advisory Committee is comprised of 4 members who are representative of the entire institution, appointed by the President; and 5 students appointed by the Student Government Association. Three of the 5 students serve two-year terms, and 2 students serve one-year terms.

Meetings

The SFAC shall conduct its meetings in accordance with Section 54.5033 of the Texas Education Code. Notice of the SFAC meetings (date, hour, place, and subject of the meeting) will be published on the internet and in the student newspaper (if an issue of the newspaper is published between the time of the Internet posting and the time of the meeting).

Meetings are open to the public.

The SFAC will conduct its meetings with a quorum of at least five of the nine voting members present. If a quorum is not reached or maintained, members may continue to meet and discuss agenda items but may not take any action.
