CERTIFY TEACHER FAQS

This embedded program within Certify Teacher will help you address the areas of concern based on your completed Exam Mode 0. This “remediation” plan will generate assignments based on the domains/competencies below 80%. To move forward on your plans to attempt a REP exam, Study Plan Tracker must show 100% complete on ALL areas.

The REP is a Representative Exam of the content area for which you will be obtaining a certification. It measures your strengths and weaknesses specifically by domains and competencies so that you know which area(s) you must concentrate and which area(s) you should feel confident about.

We recommend you practice at least an hour a day or more on certify teacher. Use all the available tools like the flash cards and study plan tracker within Certify Teacher to help you achieve the required 260 score and 80% or higher on each of the domains. After you have completed both steps above, please submit REP Request Form with supporting documents to register for the Rep exam.

Once you pass the Rep exam, you will be granted permission to take the state TExES exam. Study hard, pass your REP and be one and done with the TExES exam! Success doesn’t happen by chance; it happens through PREPARATION!

Registration Process

1.)  All forms must be submitted in one email to texesprep@tamiu.edu (ONLY SEND FORMS TO THIS EMAIL). The deadline to submit forms is seven calendar days before REP Exam Date.

Certification Instructions

Once your graduation is posted on your TAMIU Transcript (about 12 days after graduation ceremony), you can apply for CERTIFICATION.

5. On the left hand side click on Applications
6. Click on Standard Certificate Texas Program
7. Follow instructions
8. When asked for Entity click on Texas A&M International University (University-Based)
   1. Note: if you accidentally select Texas A&M University, your application will go to College Station and TAMIU will not receive it. Please double check that you have selected A&M International, code 240502

Masters or Certification

We are happy to provide a promo code for Texas A&M International University College of Education students and access to the program is granted until you receive a passing grade from the state.

The promo code will only work if students create an account with Certify Teacher and have received approval to use CertifyTeacher. The promo code will not work for any teacher candidate who has not gotten approval from the Testing Coordinator. You can contact the Testing Coordinator here.

How do I access the materials?

1. Visit the Certify Teacher site.
2. Select the online version of study guide you wish to purchase using the provide promo code and select "Buy Now". Be sure to note the Operating system and browser requirements for the program.
3. On the My Shopping Cart page, under the Apply Promo Code option, select "Login".
4. Login to certifyteacher.com to process your purchase using the promo code.
   1. If you do not already have an account through certifyteacher.com, please create an account under the "I don't have an account yet" option, and follow the prompts provide .
5. Enter your promo code TAMIU when prompted. The price will drop to the discounted price after entering the promo code.
6. Select "Accept" in the Six Clock-Hours Requirement window for your promo code to be validated.
7. Complete the purchase transaction by providing your credit card information. The online readiness review solution will be available seconds after the purchase transaction is complete.

COED Required Tranings

Beginning September 1, 2015, candidates will be limited to four (4) retakes for any certification examination.

Students who have completed all of the certification program requirements and the steps to becoming a teacher will be recommended to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for certification by our certification officer.

TAMIU no longer offers an Alternative Certification Program. However, we recommend looking at 240 certification for the program.
