Guidelines for Recording Lectures
Students should discuss their accommodation of recording lectures with their instructor before using any devices to record lectures, discussions, etc. Texas A&M Student rules indicate that unauthorized recording is considered misconduct (Section 6.06 Prohibited Behavior) and may result in university sanctions.
The following are expectations of any student recording lectures:
- Neither the recordings nor any copies of transcripts of the recordings may be used for any purpose other than as a supplement for notes taken in class.
- Recording may be prohibited at the discretion of the instructor when the content involves personal discussion and/or self-disclosure. In these cases the student and the instructor to should work together to obtain alternative notetaking assistance to supplement these sections of the course. The Office of Disability Services for Students can assist in this discussion if needed.
- Students should delete the recordings at the conclusion of the course.
