The TAMIU Thesis and Dissertation Policy Manual and the TAMIU Thesis and Dissertation Formatting Manual have been created to assist graduate students and their committee members in the preparing theses and dissertations. These manuals provide guidelines that establish uniform standards of style and format while allowing sufficient flexibility to satisfy the accepted practices of each academic discipline.

Thesis and Dissertation Support Sessions

Support sessions are available for MA, MS, and PhD students seeking assistance with formatting (APA, MLA, Chicago, and other styles), structure and organization, sentence clarity and grammar, or brainstorming or discussion. Our graduate writing consultant can also help facilitate communication between students and thesis-related faculty. If you need the latest TAMIU thesis manual or simply want someone to talk through your ideas, our graduate writing consultant is available. This is not a drop-off editing service. While the writing consultant can point out errors or recommend corrections, the student should not email a thesis or dissertation and expect full edits. Additionally, wait times for thesis and dissertation support may be longer near the end of each semester, especially during the Fall or Spring terms.

Note: Texas A&M International University requires that the name on the thesis/dissertation match your official University records exactly. Please verify that the name on your manuscript reflects the spelling and format in Banner, including the use of middle names and/or abbreviations.

Once all requested revisions are complete, you must upload your thesis/dissertation to our database. You will receive an email with instructions on how to upload your thesis/dissertation.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Any student planning to conduct research with human participants must obtain approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) before beginning data collection. The IRB is the Texas A&M International University committee responsible for reviewing and approving research protocols that involve human participants. All the research involving human subjects must be approved by the IRB prior to initiating the study.

The IRB reviews the protocols to ensure that the participants' rights and welfare are protected and that the proposed research complies with federal, state and University regulations. Researchers must submit an IRB protocol form along with all required documents. The faculty mentor should be listed as the principal investigator, and the student should be listed as a co-principal investigator. For additional information, please visit the IRB web page.

Visit our TAMIU DSpace Repository, a service designed to collect, preserve, and disseminate digital material. Its purpose is to support and promote scholarly communication. Feel free to browse through our current collections.
