A Total of 12 Agencies Join Partnership TAMIU: An Alliance for Good
A total of 12 local agencies signed powerful agreements Wednesday aimed at furthering their missions by linking with Texas A&M International University’s Partnership TAMIU: An Alliance for Good.
The signing ceremony took place at TAMIU's Student Center Rotunda, with leaders and coordinators of each agency attending the event.
The organizations signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) establishing service opportunities that assist the agencies while enhancing TAMIU student learning and development.
The MOAs enable mutually beneficial activities that further the mission of each organization and result in expanding and strengthening the University’s civic engagement and social responsibility of its programs and students through teaching, learning, research and service.
Dr. Minita Ramírez, TAMIU vice president for Student Success, said TAMIU is delighted to sign the agreements with various agency partners.
“The highest distinction is service to others and as a University, we are committed to teach and model for our students the social responsibility each of us has to our community," Dr. Ramírez said, "The importance of our TAMIU Partnerships is to diversify and increase the number of role models and mentors, who exhibit the commitment to the Laredo community and those in need. Today's students become tomorrow’s leaders, teachers, and examplars of service.”
Agencies that joined Partnership TAMIU: An Alliance for Good include the Rio Grande International Study Center, Ruthe B. Cowl Rehabilitation Center, Children's Advocacy Center of Laredo-Webb County, Literacy Volunteers of Laredo, NeighborWorks Laredo, Laredo Area Community Foundation, MileOne IBAC, MOVE Texas, Laredo Crime Stoppers, Inc., United Way of Laredo, Inc., Junior Achievement of Laredo, and South Texas Food Bank.
