Proyecto Amigo is dedicated to supporting TAMIU undergraduate students achieve success at TAMIU and beyond.

The goal of the program is to increase TAMIU's undergraduate retention and graduation rates by promoting community and belonging through coaching and mentorship. In the program students have access to:

  • Student Success Coach
  • Mentors
  • Career and Life Skills Workshops
  • Scholarships

Schedule a 1-1 student success coaching appointment to explore tailored resources and opportunities to help you be successful at TAMIU. Session topics can include:

  • What resources are available on campus
  • How to manage academics and personal time
  • Searching and applying for scholarships
  • Finding experiences to add to your resume: ex. on-campus jobs, volunteering, internships
  • Connecting with professionals in your major
  • Preparing for graduate school (ex. timelines, essays, interviews)
  • Making plans for after graduation

How to Earn Points

Points can be earned through December 13th by participating in:

  • Proyecto Amigo Resources and Events
    • Student Success Coaching Meetings with Program Manager or Peer Mentor: 1 point per meeting
    • Drop-Ins: Half a point per meeting
    • Study Hours at the Office of Outreach: 1 point per hour
    • Proyecto Amigo Workshops: 1 point per meeting
    • Meeting with Professional Mentor: 1 point per meeting
  • TAMIU Resources and Events
    • Tutoring with ACE or TRIO: 1 point per meeting
    • Attending Professor's Office Hours: In-Person or Virtually: 1 point per meeting
    • TAMIU Workshops: (Ex. ACE, Small Business Center, SOLE Talks, Coffee House Wednesday): 1 point per workshop
    • TAMIU Events (ex. Welcome Week, Wicked Wellness Week): 1 point per event
    • Career Services: Attend a meeting or event: 1 point per meeting/event
    • Volunteer: At TAMIU or Outside of TAMIU: 1 point per volunteer hour (10 points max)
    • Experiential Opportunities: Completing a internship this semester, research with a professor, study abroad, leading a student organization or event: (10 points max)

Donah Justice

Program Manager

Donah Justice has worked in education for the past 13 years and has a Bachelor’s in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master's in Counseling from the University of Houston, and a Career Coaching certification. In her past roles, Donah has helped high school students apply to college, worked at a college admission office, and guided college students in applying for internships, jobs, and graduate school. Her favorite part about working with students is helping them recognize their strengths and potential as well as building confidence in themselves and their education journeys.
