Reading the Globe provides students with a unique learning experience as they transition into college and has been recognized for internationalizing the campus!
Reading the Globe was recognized by the Institute of International Education (IIE) 2020 IIE Andrew Heiskell Awards as an Honorable Mention in the Awards’ Internationalizing the Campus category. This award focuses on advancing curriculum development, fostering international opportunities, and creatively integrating international students into university life.
Reading the Globe has been the recipient of the Humanities Texas Grant. Humanities Texas supports programs of local interest promoting heritage, culture, and education. Through the grant, Reading the Globe has been established as a tradition at TAMIU. Since 2010, Reading the Globe has received over $26,000. These funds help offset the cost of bringing the author to campus and the local library. This is one of the many unique experiences of Reading the Globe, providing students an opportunity to hear first-hand from the author.
