About G.U.I.D.E.
The Foster Care Program at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) empowers students with foster experience by offering resources, support, and skill development to promote holistic success in their academic and professional endeavors. Melissa Olivarez, Case Manager and Foster Care Liaison within the Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement, is the primary contact for former foster care students at TAMIU.

- Complete your profile
- Select 'Start/Edit Applications'
- Select 'Start New Application' and click on 'Create a New 4 Year University Admission Application'
- Select 'Texas A&M International University (Laredo)' and the type of application
- Select Semester of Entry
- Select your Major(s)
- Click on '+ Admission Application' to complete the remaining sections
- Certify Application and Proceed to Submit
- Select 'Submit This Application'
Congratulations! The application will be transmitted to TAMIU.
- Visit the DFPS website
- Go to the “Contact Us” section and follow the instructions under either the “Adopted Youth” or “Foster Youth and Others”
- You can also contact your Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) worker for your region. Find your regional PAL coordinator here.
- Submit the document to the University Registrar's office.
