About the Library

About the Library's Name

Following in the tradition set by his father, Radcliffe Killam was an leader in the nation's oil and gas industries. His industry interests included exploration, production and transportation. His diversified businesses included ranching, residential and commercial real estate development, banking and financial investments. Both Radcliffe and his wife Sue, were strong proponents of higher education and the couple assisted greatly in the growth of Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), when they helped fulfill our community’s dream of a campus with their gift of 300 acres of land in northeast Laredo, Texas. Additionally, they provided support for the University's Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade and established an endowment known as the O. W. Killam Scholarship Fund. The University's Library bears their name in recognition of their remarkable partnership with our institution.
