TexShare

The TexShare Consortium

Killam Library is a member of TexShare, a statewide resource sharing program designed to improve library service to Texans

The TexShare Card Program

The TexShare Card is a statewide library card that allows you to borrow materials at participating libraries throughout Texas.

Killam Library issues cards to TAMIU students, faculty and staff on request, so that they may borrow directly on-site from other TexShare member libraries.

Killam Library honors TexShare Cards of borrowers from other TexShare member institutions.  They may borrow items from our circulating physical collection.

Eligibility

Faculty, staff and students that are currently registered or employed, with valid TAMIU ID, and are in good standing (no overdue materials or outstanding fines, etc.) may apply for a card. TexShare borrowers must be 18 or older in order to be issued a card. Cards are valid for one semester and can be renewed for subsequent semesters when registered.

Using your Card

Each library has its own rules and lending policies for visiting TexShare Card users. Make sure you are aware of the policies at the library you intend to use. The first time you visit a participating library, be sure to bring a photo ID, your TAMIU ID, and your TexShare Card from Killam Library, to complete your registration.

Participating Libraries

Responsibilities

  • Cards are not transferable and may be used only in person by the individual whose name is on the card.
  • TexShare cards do not give you access to TexShare databases, including ebooks, in most cases.
  • The reverse of the card has an agreement you must sign and follow.
  • Failure to abide by the policies of the lending library may result in the revocation of your borrowing privileges.
  • If a lending library reports that you have lost books or failed to pay fines or fees, Killam Library may take appropriate action, including suspension of borrowing privileges here, as well as revocation of your TexShare Card.

How do I get a Card?

TAMIU Distance Learners (users outside the immediate Laredo/Webb County Area) should apply for a card at their local public library. Once your request is processed, your card will be mailed to your home address by postal mail. Please note that there may be a waiting period between the time your email is received to when your card is mailed.

TAMIU students residing within Webb County must apply for a TexShare Card in person at the Circulation Desk. Please call (956) 326-2112 for more information.

What if I have Questions?

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about the program. You can contact Malynda Dalton, Access Services Librarian, at mdalton@tamiu.edu or (956) 326-2403. You can also contact the Circulation Desk (956) 326-2112.

Other TexShare Programs
